I would wait, but not indefinitely. In fact, I've been the reason for delay before and I don't blame my wife and kids for starting without me.
Would you ever buy a gift for someone when you really thought someone else had already bought the same thing?

Came close with an old '68 Chevy wagon. 150K miles, rusty body, and one cylinder that I don't think even fired anymore. (But that ol' car started every day, even in sub-zero weather.)
Would you ever sell a klunker of a car to a friend or relative?

Probably not, more trouble than it's worth.

You have to pick your battles. I'd say probably not, unless there were other issues.
Would you ever take an afternoon nap, just because you thought you needed it?

I do it when I can... sometimes I fall asleep when putting my daughter down for a nap. Always a bonus.
Would you ever play hookie from work just to sit online all day?

Yes. I've also left work early to avoid snow/ice/darkness falling in winter.
Would you ever take a popcorn bucket home from the movies?
