Well, the amount of screen space of each post devoted to what might be described as the Title Bar, consisting only of the date time stamp, post #, and report alert. Add to that the Header section of the post - most of which is empty, and you've tied up a substantial amount of a limited resource before your reader gets to the body test of the post.
This reduces the number of posts which can fit in the browser window.
