History of sex toys: dildos and vibrators

Where did it start?

It may come as some suprise to you that sex toys have had a long history. Many believe that sex toys were first used in Asia and while this is true for items such as Ben-wa Balls the more commonly used items i.e. dildos and vibrators most certainly originated in the west!

The first real mention of dildos was in Ancient Greece where single, lonley women would use dildos made, mostly, out of stone or wood (ouch!).

It took until the 1900's for dildos to be finally made our of rubber - which is naturally a lot more comfortable than wood or stone - and these new dildos were shaped more like a penis.
