Took Nika into town this morning, she was soooo damned excited *L*
Dropped Bilbo off at work, she proceeded to whinge because we left him *L*
Drove and parked downtown, went for a walk, gawd if every second person didnt compliment the dog *L*
A wee little girl wanted to pat the pretty puppy *L* so i gave her a piece of food and she not only patted, she fed the pretty puppy and walked off a happy little camper.
Didnt get pics here, damn camera batteries were flat and nothing was open for me to buy more!
We sat and waited for my eldest son to go to an appointment, while sitting got more compliments and Nika scored many a pat *LOL*
Son came out and drove to Queens Park to have a look at some of the flower beds, sadly many of them were dying off, but i got a couple of pics here.
From there we drove to the duck park (cant remember its proper name) and Nika wanted to jump into the water and chase said ducks *L* A woman with a dog asked if she could come over, Nika is not dog aggressive, but as the other dog was approaching its hackles went up and she took offence. Parked herself fully in front of me and stared this other dog. The silly lady kept coming. Anyway when Nika gave a small warning lunge, she stated oh your dogs not friendly. I stated back yes she actually is, asked her if she could see her dogs hackles up, yes she said. I told her that is considered a sign of aggression and Nika just went into guard mode. I told her when approaching other strange dogs her dog needs to learn ettiquite, charging (with owner in tow)at them hackles up is not going to get a good reaction the majority of the time. This is why i am an advocate for compulsary obedience training for dog owners. This womans dog ruled the roost. Very proud of my Nika, she put herself between myself and the strange dog and she was standing her ground without being overly aggressive herself.
From the duck park we drove out to a pet store that allows dogs to go in. Nika loved that *L* The 2 staff members jut loved her to bits, Nika loved 1 of them, well more to the point the $1500 tame bird on her shoulder *L* Never took her eyes off it the entire time. The girl went to squat down to say hi to Nika, i quickly got her up and said that putting the bird in Nika's grab space would not be a good idea. A VERY expensive chew toy!
Nika had had enough by this stage, she is a dog that flatly refuses to either drink or pee/poop while out and about, and it was quite a warm day. So home we came, with Nika absolutely slabbed out on the back seat *L* She loved the whole trip though, and took all the strange situations in her stride.
I'm one very proud mum!
(pics will come, but being on dial up i am having trouble uploading them)
