I don't know about the rest of the country, but I can confirm that here in Tennessee because of the expansion of the human population and the subsequent taking over of natural habitats as well as the killing of wolves and coyotes the deer population has boomed to an alarming size. Because of this boom, more deer are starving to death as opposed to natural predators. In essence, we have no choice but to hunt and eat deer.
