If it's actually accumulating on the counter top, I'd crawl underneath with a flashlight to look at the faucet before I crawled into an attic hatch. (assuming a single story house)
A CLOSE inspection of the wall just above should show some sign if it is coming from above. Water seldom makes 90 degree turns if there is more wall stud below as an option.
