Americans using "borrowed" German WW2 technology.
I just bought a can of "Perketts self heating fine coffee mocha latte", a total ripoff of the Luftwaffe emergency rations stocked on the rescue buoys in the North Sea and Channel.

What worries me is the disclaimer "Do not activate if stored above 32C/90F. Return to room temperature and activate." Most of the time my rooms are at 32C or higher. This IS the tropics, dammit.
MREs use a different reaction to heat them.
