db ~ dad still mentions those cards and pix every time I see him - don't think he can quite believe little kids from 4000 miles away care enough about a stranger to do something like that! I do believe they have made some difference to his outlook, even if only for a little while! Thanks to you, Mrs db and the Kids, once again!

osuche ~ I hope so too! The plan is for him to come home for three days to start with, and to be assessed (how I hate that word!) re further time out. If all is well pain-wise, which is the main criteria at the moment, then he stays at home until, well, you know. I think most of his goodbyes will have been done by then, though, which will set him more at ease too.
