According to Heilperin (1960), there are 3 principal reasons why a country would want autarky : to be as independent as possible of sources of supply that lie outside the country's control, in order to be strong in war; to achieve a greater degree of diversification of production and a better balanced national economy; and to plan the economic life of the country as independently as possible of the condition of the world economy.

I think it's a dream that's impossible to achieve.
