I'm about to run away to help out with the Maryland Faerie Festival (not a kink or sex-related event at all). Updates to my 100 years ago in history are problematical.

Will be leaving for the hospital in Peoria at about 8AM this morning for the colonoscopy. With luck, I'll be home in time for lunch. :D

The good news about having a colonoscopy is that for the moment at least, you still have a colon.

Let's hope that's true afterwards, as well.

Made it through okay. Just have to wait for lab results but no indication of problems.

I have finished reading through the Candidates' position statements & policy proposals, all the way from Governor of Md/Lt Governor (who are running unopposed in the primary) to School Board to the Register of Wills (who is also running unopposed). Ready to cast my votes for the various contests.

Either Friday or Saturday we'll be heading over to Indianapolis to visit our daughter and her family. It'll be a big group. Lots of nieces and nephews; our daughter from Georgia and her family; and our daughter from Peoria along with her family. Going to be a "swim-fest."

...but still not a family reunion?

Well, it'll be a family reunion of sorts. Mainly just my wife and I and our daughters and their families and a few nieces and nephews that live in northern Illinois (Chicago area). Our sons probably won't be able to make it (work).

This is a pretty special day in my life. It's our 55th wedding anniversary. Yep. Fifty-five years ago … 1963 … we got married after having dated for 3 years. Best thing I ever did marrying a wife as special and wonderful as the one I did. She was my absolute true love then … and I love her that much more now. I was truly a VERY, VERY lucky man.

We're going to celebrate in several ways. This morning we're going to visit shut-ins from our church. We've always done this together and we've done it now for maybe 18 years. Then, this evening we're going out to dinner to one of our favorite restaurants. Then tomorrow we're going to a movie with lunch at a favorite Italian restaurant. Shold be a fun filled couple of days of celebration.
