I'd probably go with your suggestion of rolled oats as substrate for a lizard.

Visited out friend at the hospice yesterday for a couple of hours. She was in good spirits and the day was beautiful. The folks moved her bed out into a beautifully landscaped area so she could enjoy the sun and fresh air. Wish I could magically make everything better, but, I'm just glad for the time we get to share with her and her husband now.

STO would have been 43 today.

I think today will be a bit nicer than the past couple. They were rather chilly and windy.

By the way, if you want to see a good movie ... Matt Damon is terrific in Martian!! :thumbs:

I have to echo the note about The Martian. Great stuff, even with the stupidity near the end. (Wont' g into detail. No spoilers here.)

The Martian is a rollicking good fairy tale, well worth the dollars. It's a big screen movie, it will suffer on the small screen.

And I"m told the 3-D version is slightly better, although if you have a problem with 3-D stuff, you won't miss anything on the 2-D screen.

I think we're going to see PAN this weekend. I wonder if in live action it'll be as good as the recent Cinderella was. They did a fantastic job on it. I'll let you know what we think of it.

About to take off to help run another s/f con. This time, it's Capclave ( http://www.capclave.org/capclave/capclave15/ ), and I get to coordinate the con suite.

Not a great time for equipment: my girlfriend's car broke down (fortunately, she was at home at the time, so at least she's not stuck somewhere), my wife's scooter broke down, so she's having trouble getting around the con, and I managed to loose my favorite hat. All of these are recoverable, of course, but irritating in the meantime, until the situation is rectified.

Off to work soon to help complete the project deployment into production.

Yesterday was beautiful and I got a lot done outside and today is suppose to be good, too, so maybe I'll make more progress. I hope anyway.

Oh, BTW, Pan was very good. Kind of a prequel ... showing how the Peter Pan, Capt. Hook and all the others got their start. Interesting take on an old children's story.

Busy summer outdoors. Now to finish the last of summer's chores and unwind with an adult beverage by the woodstove.
