And I know what you mean about the painkillers, AZ,almost all of the painklliers I have been on never touched the pain, they just made me not care (which made for an interesting programming class one time lol). The only one that seemed to anything for the pain was Demarol but that was because it pretty much knocked me out.

There is a hypnotic process where a suggestion is made that a simple act (eating a Tic-Tac or saying a phrase (or indeed a combination of simple acts) will make you believe that the pain has abated. As painkillers merely mask the pain, this is a psychological way of doing the same. It works by telling the body it feels the pain still, but not near as strongly.

This is not a cure for whatever is causing the pain, but may let you get a good night's sleep.

No, I don't know any practicioners personally who use this technique.

Later today I am going to be the subject of a photo shoot because a studio wants to make use of my talents so they can test a ridiculously expensive camera they just acquired.

Yeah, IME, pain killers are like anti-psychotics: pretty much a crap shoot for any given individual/drug/amount/frequency combination.

I've added a ticker to my sig, so those interested can follow how i am doing with the weight loss. I have a lot to lose, but am determined to get there!!

I did my taxes today. Come to find out I might also be getting some money back from my now former insurance company as well.
