We've been overrun and the trampling is getting deadly. Time to cull some of the herds, you and me. :argue: Starting now, you fight your tiger and I'll lock up with my lion. Going to be a hard year. |
I'm wondering what it's like to be healthy.

Deal! Got results of the xrays :( Ole arthur-itus has progressed to medium level, i have disk degeneration happening, 1 in particular is not brilliant, hence the shooting pains down the legs and numbness. Both are hereditary, so i had an idea. My job is definately not helping matters. But hey what job can i get that will allow me to stand, walk around and sit when i need to..and something i'm skilled enough to do :( It sux Positive note though, have been doing ok so far with the eating, i know its only early, but well, i'm pleased *L* |

Housekeeping. I feel ya, Fang...I had to give up my sedentary job because it was killing me--the chronic pain from my back and hips was intractable; I'm feeling a lot better since I "retired." Now, I'm a homemaker, moving around all day, changing things up. I'm grateful to have the option. But for all people want to talk about the health (and girth) of people these days, no one wants to look hard enough at the contributory factors of sedentary jobs. One cannot undo 8 hours of sitting in one hour at the gym. It's just not possible. |
I have a physical job, very similar to housekeeping. Fast paced, heavy going and constant for 8hours. My workmates are being very understanding and helping me where they can but i cant expect them to do that forever, tis not fair. I get home at the end of each shift in pain and struggling. This is the one i need to leave. As you say i cannot go into a office type job as sitting all day would be just as bad if not worse.
Unfortunately i need to work, if i could get paid to stay home and look after my house i'd be all for it *L* Retiring is a long way off for me :( |
I hear ya. I hope a better option for you presents itself immediately, if not sooner.
|
I just applied for a job that would allow me to work from home and thereby perv here at a more respectable rate.
|
Would you enjoy working from home, Lil? You're so sociable!
I'm a recluse, myself, so being at home works for me, but it drives my dad (a gregarious sort) nuts. |
I think it will make me a bit nuts. I would have pretty flexible hours and could volunteer or tutor some of my favorite people.
|
Has PF applied to be tutored yet? That should keep you from become bored ... although you may still feel a bit nuts.

Fangtasia, just wondering i yo have found anything to help deal wtih that pain, as it sounds exactly like what I am dealing with. Unfortunately mine has gotten to the point whre hot baths/showers or ibuprofin no longer touch the pain.
|
Shadow, I can take the edge off with panadine forte, but it is becoming less effective at it. So mostly i just put up with it :( Some days i cope better than others.
I cant take ibuprofin, it is linked to taking the potassium out of your system, which can make you ill. I used to use them quite a bit, but I had extremely low levels of potassium and had to take tabs and eat a lot of bananas, so i avoid ibu. like the plague. |
I gave up on ibuprofen awhile back because massive doses weren't helping, and narcotic pain relievers didn't touch my pain, either. I finally got lucky with Celebrex, which is also an NSAID, but if you haven't tried it, might be worth a trial. I ended up asking for it because my dad took it, and he had good results, and he and I are very similar physically and how we react to meds. It was a shot in the dark, but it paid off for me.
