...which I suppose the last sentence is just the bad news, as well. OTOH, the good news there, is that the last statement might just be cynical hyperbole.

The bad news is that while some progress has been made in fighting the Aussie fires, they still are very serious.

The good news (for me, at least), is that I now have work four days a week at my paying job.
