Pray share, with pictures and explanatory notes.

Miss-Honey-Bee 02-26-2007 05:07 AM

I don't think I could possibly illustrate what is going on in my head, and I didn't think to take pictures last night while it was happening LOL x

Lilith 02-26-2007 05:17 AM

Whether they will feel betrayed when they get the damn test and don't know how to do some of it.

Oldfart 02-26-2007 06:46 AM

Betrayed, or stupid?

IowaMan 02-26-2007 08:33 AM

I'm really wishing I was better with words.

IAKaraokeGirl 02-26-2007 11:47 AM

I appreciate that but I'm struggling with it at this very second. I just can't find the words so I guess this will have to do for right now.

:x:

sodaklostsoul 02-26-2007 11:30 PM

Lots. Its so full up there that I keep getting headaches today.

Oldfart 02-27-2007 12:23 AM

Lil,

Remember the story of the man who had to teach the horse to sing to save his life?

As I read it you have taught the Boys as much as they were capable of learning within the framework of their social and behavioral difficulties, given the resources allowed to you.

Where's the failure, except in your expectations?

Has anyone at the school brought up this "failure"?

IowaMan 02-27-2007 04:32 AM

The fact that I've got a doctor's appointment in a few hours and should probably go back to bed and try to get at least a little bit of sleep.

osuche 02-27-2007 12:33 PM

SUpermarkets and their value chain

IowaMan 02-27-2007 06:50 PM

A brief story I saw on the news a little bit ago. Something that happened in an area where a friend of mine lives. I know that they are probably okay (I've got absolutely no reason to believe otherwise) but it just upset me and sort of scared me a bit.

dicksbro 02-28-2007 07:06 AM

Oldfart 02-28-2007 09:58 PM

Mrs Oldfart was watching the Lehrer Hour, one of the foreign news programs brought by our SBS Television network yesterday when the subject of the new HPV vaccine came up.

A woman came on the show arguing against the mandated mass vaccination (with an opt-out for people with legitimate objections) on the basis of a perception of insufficient testing.

Mrs Oldfart couldn't understand how something which may save the lives and fertility of hundreds of thousands of women could be stalled because a miniscule number of people may have an unspecified adverse reaction.

She's interested in hearing how the Pixies ladies feel about this emotive issue.

Lilith 02-28-2007 10:25 PM

I think we still have people here who were affected by the use of drugs that caused serious malformations and it makes people on edge. The other thing I am seeing is that the religious right is equating this vaccine with permission to be sexual.

Having had loved ones, family members, co-workers, and even Pixies who have suffered due to this virus, I am for vaccination. I'm wondering if the vaccine could be administered at an even younger age so the stigma of it being associated with sexual transmission would be lessened. The truth is that men can spread this virus with no symptoms and that is what makes it so dangerous. It does not matter if you are fucking around at 14 or is you are a virgin on your wedding day. The virus knows no difference.

wyndhy 03-01-2007 09:53 AM

i have a problem with mandated vaccinations only because i have a problem with almost anything that governments do that mandates what i do to my own body, or the bodies of my kids (and don't anyone take that to mean sexual or physical abuse, those are clear and present dangers). it's just my nature to be persnickety about these things. who has the right to determine if a person's objections are legitimate? what are the criteria?

grl2naughty 03-01-2007 09:55 AM

The story I just read...... It was :hot:

Pertinent questions! :)

WildIrish 03-01-2007 11:20 AM

I have mixed feelings about this. While I totally agree that it rubs me the wrong way to have someone dictate what must be injected into my body...without diligent efforts to maintain immunization programs here and strengthen them worldwide, diseases seen 50 years ago (such as polio) remain a threat today.

PantyFanatic 03-01-2007 03:08 PM

Very good and serious topic Wyndhy :thumb:

I too have an involuntary recoil from 'government mandates'. Coming up at in a different societal culture of individualism, personal responsibility and national pride of individual uniqueness, it has been a slow adjustment as we've evolved towards a more socialistic system. The trade offs have been many, but with few exceptions, it has been positive for our society for the most part.

On the other side of the coin has come the realization that with modern technological capabilities, we now have (rather THEY have) the ability to create sweeping, long term change at a rate that does not allow for the reviews and the adjustments of the learning curve necessary. As 'credibility' and blind faith in our government diminishes, it certainly causes conflict in foundations such as mine. As WI referenced, medical advancements have changed communicable diseases that at one time were meaningful threats to every family. And as Lil pointed out, there were devastating errors made along the way.

My personal belief in "advancement through constant evolution, not revolution" becomes more the guideline I function by.

And may you enjoy the Chinese curse of "living during interesting times". ;)

cull the herd, baby, cull the herd... :D

seriously though, i wonder ... can there be that many people who will refuse the vaccination? will they ever outnumber the ones who choose to be vaccinated?

You're diabolical! Here I am thinking that you are all "keep your laws off my body" and what you're really out to do is shorten the line at the grocery store! :roflmao:

IowaMan 03-01-2007 04:03 PM

Hoping that Cheyanne and Cobalt (as well as the rest of the people in that part of my state) make it through this latest storm okay. They just broke in on a local TV station and showed some video from near where they live and it looked absolutely terrible.

In my state if you refuse to innoculate your child, the department of children and families as well as the department of health do a home inquiry to determine the risk to other children before signing some sort of "objector" paperwork that will allow your child to attend day care or school.

wyndhy 03-01-2007 05:26 PM

in my commonwealth, children can not attend school under any circumstances unless they've been vaccinated.

wyndhy 03-01-2007 05:27 PM

btw, why am i proud of you?:D

WildIrish 03-01-2007 05:36 PM
