I gave up smoking over 20 years ago, pre gums and tablets.

When I got the urge for a cigarette, I took a small piece of dry spaghetti and played with it, chewed it, shaped it and it took my mind off the craving for a moment.

Interesting. My only problem with that approach would be that after I eat something, I really want a cig...
