We did it yesterday ... saw Star Wars a second time. Folks that told us it would really be better were right ... we (wife and I) both thought it was better the second time (although very good the first time, too!)

P.S. SOLO ... the story of Hans Solo will be out MAY 25, 2018! :D

Went to see "Darkest Hour." It focused on Churchill from the time he took over as PM from Neville Chamberlain and his party's urging negotiations with Hitler using Italy as a mediator and Churchill's determination to avoid feeding the hungry German beast who had already broken previous agreements. Movie ended with his famous speech declaring they (the British) would fight on the beaches; in the fields and in the cities just as Dunkirk was being evacuated. Outstanding movie. Held pretty true to history with the minor liberties more filling in some private times for which there aren't many (if any) historical documents. If you like history ... or admire Churchill ... I think you'd love the movie. I was surprised, while I'm the history buff in our family ... my wife loved the movie maybe as much or more than me. :)

Been interested in seeing this one. I'll have to see if I can grab some time for this one.

I really hate it when I question the truthfulness of a story told to me....... :)

But which is worse, find out you were right to question, or finding out you were wrong to question?

dicksbro 01-18-2018 03:38 AM

Saw "The Greatest Showman" (P.T. Barnum) for the 2nd time yesterday and enjoyed it as much or more than the first time. We're thinking we may just try to see it one more time and then buy the DVD/BluRay when it comes out. Good show!

dicksbro 01-23-2018 03:42 AM

Don't you hate it when you get a cold sore or canker sore? :( Got one yesterday so had to run out and get some of that OraGel to help numb the sore. Must have worked, don't notice it this morning. :)

Oldfart 01-23-2018 07:51 AM

So far, so good.

gekkogecko 01-24-2018 11:06 AM

Do you ever get the overwhelming urge to cuddle a porcupine?

dicksbro 01-25-2018 02:13 AM

Not that I can remember. Have you? I could maybe wish it upon some others ... like that leader of N. Korea.

gekkogecko 01-26-2018 10:01 AM

Today marks another year with the mammal I married.

dicksbro 01-27-2018 03:53 AM

Congratulations! What a wonderful example of inter-species acceptance. Here's to many more!

dicksbro 01-30-2018 02:09 AM

My regular annual visit to my cancer doctor this morning. Knock on wood, everythings been clear for probably close to 3,5 or 4 years now so not anticipating any problems. Still, a couple of good thoughts wouldn't hurt and would be appreciated. :)

gekkogecko 01-30-2018 10:19 AM

WhooHoo! Go, DB!

dicksbro 01-31-2018 01:58 AM

Thanks. Your good thoughts no doubt worked to give me a good report.

Will see the doc in 6 mos.

Lilith 01-31-2018 07:27 PM

Grats DB!!

dicksbro 02-01-2018 02:18 AM

Thank you! Always appreciate the good thoughts of my fellow Pixies! What a great bunch of folks!

dicksbro 02-03-2018 03:20 AM

Glad to have the weekend and more time to spend with my wife. :) That's always good!

gekkogecko 02-03-2018 11:21 AM

My nephew's daughter had a daughter on 28 December.

I suppose that makes me a grand-uncle?

dicksbro 02-04-2018 02:11 AM

Well congratulations there GRAND-UNCLE! Trust everyone is doing well (including the grand-uncle)! :D

HB, Hitchhiker's Guide

From Wikipedia:
1978 – BBC Radio 4 began transmitting Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a science fiction radio series that was later adapted into novels, a television series, and other media formats.

dicksbro 03-08-2018 01:08 PM

I think the BBC Radio version of the Hitchhiker's Guide was the best of the three. I still have a hardcover book that contains all FIVE books of the TRIOGY. :D No kidding.

gekkogecko 03-11-2018 11:35 AM

Flew my girlfriend up from Florida so we could go see the Dropkick Murphys last night in DC. She's sleeping it off rigth now.

Kick-ass show.

dicksbro 03-13-2018 04:58 AM

Started running a fever (101.2) yesterday so to the doctor. He found I did have the flu (I've had the flu shot this past fall). Got the meds he prescribed and hopefully that'll kick it.

It's Friday! :D

gekkogecko 04-06-2018 09:55 AM

Even without the ridiculous forecast, people are worried about the effect the overnight freeze the next couple of days will have on DC's cherry blossoms.

PantyFanatic 04-06-2018 12:36 PM

Thank you GG for the reminder. Washington is also where we keep our national treasures :wish:, not only our national garbage.

dicksbro 04-07-2018 02:36 AM

True, my friend, how very true. :boink:

Lilith 04-08-2018 09:22 PM

I'm getting a tooth pulled tomorrow.

dicksbro 04-09-2018 12:43 AM

We'll be thinking of you. My wife just had one pulled last week. Hardest part was avoiding a lot of more solid foods. But I was impressed with how well she's done. Today she starts back to her job at the school and I think she's ready. Only has about seven weeks to the summer break. :)

gekkogecko 04-09-2018 08:30 AM

Ug. Having teeth out is no fun, for sure.

Lilith 04-14-2018 07:00 PM

I had a bone graft too. Took 30 minutes. I was back at work in an hour. Glad Mrs DB is doing well. I've got lots of stitches so that is impacting eating solids too.

dicksbro 04-15-2018 02:04 AM

Sounds like good news for you. Mrs. DB was doing real well but last night we went to a dinner and she was concerned because she was getting some pain around where the tooth was extracted. I think she's going to call our dentist tomorrow and see if he could take a look and verify that all's okay or whether she needs some help. We've had the dentist for many years now and so there's no lack of confidence in him. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers if you would.

Yeah, but I'll leave it to PF to comment on the types of liquids you're able to deal with.

Hope things came out OK otherwise, for both women involved in the 2018 Tooth Adventures.

Lilith 04-15-2018 06:57 PM

Sending Mrs. DB well wishes.

I tried tequila since its not solid. It kicked my ass.

dicksbro 04-16-2018 01:25 AM

Actually went to our local "Prompt Care" yesterday because the pain was even worse. Gave her an antibiotic to take to eliminate any infection and she'll call our dentist today to see if he wants to check her. Seemed to be doing a bit better last night. Hope this gets cleared up soon or that somehow I could take the pain and leave her pain free. :(

PantyFanatic 04-18-2018 12:55 PM

:cheerlead YAAAAH for tequila :cheerlead
