I'm not sure that it was. I thought the Omaha class was a four-funnel light cruiser dating from WWI or post WWI. In any case, the photo wasn't labeled and so I'm not really sure.

You are correct, it's just post-WWI.

And today's looks like a Baltimore-class heavy cruiser.

Not really. Peoria (about 10 miles from us) is on the Illinois river and we see a lot of river traffic there. Now and then a special event … like a touring WWII LST or a replica of Columbus' ship La Nina or a cruise boat like our Spirit of Peoria paddle wheeler. No tall ships, though. I'm afraid the bridges would impede their movement up the river.

The real question is, living up the river the way you do, do you have a paddle?
