We hit triple digits today too.

Hopefully find out next week if I get an apartment. If I don't I may still get to go to Pagan.

Oldfart 07-07-2012 07:50 PM

I'm almost finished packing.

On a plane this PM for Sydney, then on to Cleveland on Tuesday.

Lilith 07-07-2012 07:51 PM

safe travels to all.

My best teacher's aide passed her teaching test today. Lots of changes for me this summer.

Rhiannon 07-07-2012 07:54 PM

safe paths...

i totaled my car on the 5th of july i am undergoing test to see if i blacked out

Oldfart 07-07-2012 07:57 PM

. . before, during or after the crash?

Rhiannon 07-07-2012 08:01 PM

we are wondering during as i don't remember anything before collision

Oldfart 07-07-2012 10:06 PM

Long term memories are not encoded immediately, so if a trauma is suffered, it can interfere with the conversion from short to long term. It's not usually a symptom of damage, just an interruption in the coding process. Usually the memory loss is permanent, but in the case of incomplete conversion bits surface occasionally.

Safe journey, OF!

Oldfart 07-08-2012 06:31 AM

Thanks DB.

We've made it to Sydney. A day visiting family, then we're on our way.

PantyFanatic 07-08-2012 09:46 AM

We've got the light on for you. :thumb:

gekkogecko 07-08-2012 11:47 AM

I got up to 310 l/min out of my peak flow meter today.

Yeah, bad asthma day. For a male of my age/height "ideal" is 622 l/min.

rabbit 07-08-2012 06:34 PM

Tried my hand today at baby back ribs in my smoker. They came out great, but I burned myself.

They were so good, it was worth the burn!

PantyFanatic 07-08-2012 09:03 PM

So you really meant it when you said "Tried my hand today at baby back ribs in my smoker" :roflmao:

Oldfart 07-08-2012 11:06 PM

No,what rabbit really meant to say was "Fried my hand today at baby back ribs in my smoker."

dicksbro 07-09-2012 03:22 AM

Now, was it his hand or the ribs that were so good?

:D

Oldfart 07-09-2012 05:44 AM

Yes.

gekkogecko 07-09-2012 07:28 AM

Nom, nom, nom.

PantyFanatic 07-11-2012 12:24 AM

Two Pixie Pagans are reported present and accounted for. :D

Oldfart 07-11-2012 12:45 AM

Present and correct, Sir.

Oldfart 07-11-2012 07:33 AM

It's morning in Cleveland, and some other places, apparently.

Lilith 07-11-2012 08:22 AM

I feel better when you and I are on the same continent ((welcome))

Sounds like a dangerous proximity to me.

Dangerous? Naaaah.

Danger presumes that there is something bad at the end.

Lilith and I are like that, and that, and even . . .

Oldfart 07-11-2012 09:18 PM

It was Hatari, PF.

dicksbro 07-12-2012 05:29 AM

Wish we were in Cleveland right now. :(

Anyway, looking forward to seeing OF and his lady on the 19th. Two very special people!

Mrs. and I tried very hard to find some red, white and blue patriotic panties to send to PF to use as the "PIR (Pixies in Residence) flag," but alas, none quite met the high standard we place on this noble symbol of Pixieland.

For me, it looks like on the 18th, I'll be taking some pre-surgery tests at the hospital here in anticipation of surgery on the 24th to remove the cancer nodule on my lung. The cancer is actually (and I may have said this before somewhere) a sneaky little set of cells from the colon cancer I had removed three years ago. The nodule is very small and the surgeon is an exceptional doctor that did my bypass surgery back in 2002. He indicated that there's about a 99.5% probability he can get it all and while removing this nodule, will try to assure no other suspicious activity is present.

Cancer was caught VERY early. The doctor's said that a small nodule would be considered any in the 0-3cm range. Mine is less than 1cm and probably could not have been detected much before now. That's good news.

Bad news is that I'll probably be gone from Pixies for the 3 or 4 days I'll be in the hospital; and, after I get home it may still be a bit before I'm up to sitting at the terminal and typing very much; but, hopefully that won't be that long.

jseal 07-12-2012 05:41 AM

Well, that gives you these six days to visit here! :) (positive spin here)

PantyFanatic 07-12-2012 06:55 AM

Great news DB. That sounds like the best sentence I've ever heard when the word 'cancer' was in it.

Lilith 07-12-2012 08:06 AM

I have a friend whose hubby has colon cancer as well. His sneaky little bits ended up by his pancreas and can not be removed. Your news sounds 849257285742957 times better. You will be in my thoughts. I know the Dr. will send you home cancer free!

gekkogecko 07-12-2012 10:24 AM

(sympathetic head bobs) to DicksBro. And to Lilith.

AZRedHot 07-12-2012 10:29 AM

Sounds like you've got the right doc on the job, DB. Sending good thoughts and healing energy your way.

kleclere 07-12-2012 04:19 PM

DB that is really good news. My thoughts are with you too.

BaronVonDiver 07-12-2012 07:15 PM

Sorry to hear that db, sounds like your in good hands though. Best of British luck from Baron :-)

dicksbro 07-13-2012 02:38 AM

Thanks everybody. I really appreciate your kind words. I am lucky. I do have a great doctor, lots of great people praying for me or sending good vibes my way; and, a lot of faith in my Lord. As I told a friend, what's the worst that can happen ... I get an invite to Heaven? See ... no worries. ;) And, like jseal said, I still have a few days before the surgery and I won't be gone long.

jay-t 07-14-2012 05:03 PM

Glad they caught it early DB will keep you in our prayers!

dicksbro 07-15-2012 04:44 PM

Thanks, jay-t!

dicksbro 07-18-2012 04:20 AM

Surgery has been pushed back to August 7th. Evidently the doctor or hospital had a problem and called. They wanted (at first) to move it up, but that just wasn't possible and so the date of August 7th was chosen. So, on the positive side, that gives me a couple more weeks at Pixies before I'll be gone for a little while.

jseal 07-18-2012 05:07 AM

Ha! That just means that you'll have a couple more weeks to take my Winnah's Trophy from from me! Very crafty!

gekkogecko 07-18-2012 10:33 AM

Whatever works, DB. Hope it does.
