I actually did one time. It was years ago. My boss and I were talking and he turned and walked away. I was young and went back and asked if I could talk to him in private. He said okay and I told him that as my boss he could tell me to shut up or fire me or whatever else, but I had always respected him and felt that for him to simply turn his back on me like that was very rude and I resented it as a person.

He apologized, said he suddenly became distracted by something, and didn't realize he'd done that. We became very good friends and could always speak openly to one another after that.

Yes, in my current position. One of the attorneys I work for respects me because he knows, if he asks me a question, I'll give him a direct and honest answer and won't try to placate him.
