So sorry, Fang... hope the pain subsides quickly!

I wouldn't say I'm missing it, Bob. :) Your knack with the naval lingo is commanding, OF. |
Help, someone. I'm being assailed.

My new throwing knives came in. I can't wait to test them out.

Seems like holding still could be dangerous at your house! |
Playing "Catch" is dangerous there.

Nah, I don't throw knives at people. I chase them with swords. I throw knives at the cats. LOL. Honestly, I have a target set up in the backyard for throwing knives and guns. Though I do practice stage sword fighting with a cousin of mine. It's all improvised and I'm still learning, but it's coming along.

I was reading one of the news stories on Yahoo's home page about the earthquake in Japan. It's especially interesting to me because I lived one year in Sendai and another six months in a small suburb called Tagajo. Both were referenced in the article. Sendai had been a city of about 500,000 people when I lived there and Tagajo was maybe 2,000 to 4,000 people. Sendai is now over one million and Tagajo I read somewhere was now actually a small city of about 60,000.
Even more interesting, two of the people I usually have coffee with during the week know the area. One lived in Sendai (left the year we arrived) and the other was in Fukashima (a nearby community) which is where the nuclear plant has been seriously damaged. Brings the devastation and damage home in a very profound way. Streets I walked on in Tagajo have disappeared and it's hard to imagine a city the size of Sendai facing the damage and struggles they're facing now. In some ways, it maybe even worse than Katrina was to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Needless-to-say, my heart and prayers go out to the people of Japan (especially northeastern Japan) and the grief they are enduring now. |
New rule: If I've tried 3 times to return your call, and left 3 messages, my obligation is complete. You can call me if you want to talk to me.
|
I think you were generous to give 3. If I made a call, expected a return and did not get one, I'd assume there was no need for another.

New Orleans and outlying towns had plenty of warning of Katrina and were failed by the people whose job it was to protect them, from the Army Corps of Engineers to the city and town administrators. Sendai had 10 minutes warning after a damaging and disorienting earthquake. The poor buggers never stood a chance. |

Two calls and one message is my limit. |
If you refuse to answer me, I blow up your phone until you do. I figure if I'm going to waste my time trying to get in touch with you, I can annoy you and try to waste your time.
I wasn't able to get the car I was hoping to. Guess I need to keep looking. |

Sad facts. ^^^ :( The warnings went much further back than the days of the event and the reactions afterward was a Chinese fire drill of incompetence and politics. :o |
One-Trick Pony should've been 60 today. I really wish he were here for me to give him a hard time about his age. I miss him so.

Off to the specialist tomorrow. Hopefully to take the staples out *L*
I've been doing a bit, very very carefully of course, with the hand, the last few days been out of the sling (more comfy that way). I can now type with the left hand, and can again write, so i'm rather chuffed at that. The elbow itself has a bit more movement, but i dont push it cause i dont wanna do more harm than good. I'm just stoked to be able to type again lol 1 finger typing sux! So all in all, the last day has seen improvement, and hopefully it will just keep on eading in that direction. |
Finally got onto the internet. Darn cable network provider was having problems this morning and couldn't log on. :(

Fang: voice recognition is your friend. It also produces hilarious results.

So, yes, the flooding in my basement. As I posted in another thread, I had to rip out part of an interior wall in order to get at the cracks in the concrete floor where the water was coming in.
Then I got to put holes in the floor. After all, you can't fill in holes in the floor if there are no holes in the floor to fill. Then in order to prevent water from coming in through the holes in the floor, I had to put water in the holes in the floor. Now I get to see if this concrete patch stuff actually worked, and if it did, then replace the framework & drywall I ripped out. This sucks, but fortunately, not as much as our shop-vacs sucked during the flood itself. But that's why we bought the shop-vacs in the first place. |

I'm entered to compete in my first ever Olympic distance triathlon in April.

Well hello stranger. :D Welcome home. :kisser:
Glad to see things are peddling along for you. :) |
^^^ what he said ^^^

Soooooo...i get the staples out on Tuesday. Back to work on the 30th, reduced hours, light duties until May. Should be interesting lol
|
Can you define "light" ?
|
"light" will mean VERY limited. Dusting, 3kg weight limit, glass cleaning. That will be about it, and the majority of that will be right handed *L*
|
get better!
|
Just caught the Boxer running out the patio door with my undies (that she stole from the laundry basket) between her teeth. She looked so surprise when I yelled, "NOOOOOO!"
|
Leave her alone. :hair: It took me a long time to teach her 'FETCH'.
|
My arm is being a shit today, the elbow just doesnt appreciate bending at all, i had quite good extention yesterday, but today.....nope
|

That was you??? :undies: |
It should only take the Boxer about 8 weeks to run to the Lake.
Hmmm, 16 weeks per return trip, three round trips per year with 4 weeks recovery. It's a tough life for a Arizona Boxer. |

:( Sorry, Fangtasia. Just take it slow and be gentle with yourself. It's going to take more time than you want it to. |

She might be glad to go. She starts looking like PF in the heat here (which is to say, PITIFUL), and it's already started. Some time in Great Lakes country might suit her. |

I have removed most of the plants from the 5ft and got the 3ft roughly scaped/planted. Considering i cant see into it more than a few cm, its a bit of a pot luck *L* Thats what i get for moving some of the planted substrate out of the 5ft and just dropping it into a partially filled 3ft *L* Oh well it'll clear. The fish are all still in the 5ft for now, and mighty peeved cause i took their hidey places away. Took me nearly all day to do it, one handed and all, but the withdrawals of not being able to play in my tanks was killing me!!! Tomorrow i'll drop a heater in to it, bring it up to temp and depending how clear it is, i may move the fish over
Oh and a pic of me elbow train track *L* |
Ouch!

:yikes: What she said ^^^^
